Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 18, 2026
1. Introduction
BilzCal (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the website at www.bilzcal.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our calendar-based bill and money management service.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google OAuth.
Financial Data
To provide our budgeting and bill tracking features, we may collect:
- Bank account balances and transaction history (via Plaid, our bank sync partner)
- Bill amounts, due dates, and payee information you enter
- Income and expense categories you create or customize
Email Data (Gmail API)
If you enable email bill scanning, we connect to your Gmail account using the Gmail API with the mail.readonly scope. We access only the content of emails that match bill-detection patterns (e.g., invoices, payment reminders, utility statements) to extract bill amounts, due dates, and payee names. We do not read, store, or process the full contents of your inbox. You may disconnect your Gmail account at any time from your account settings.
Usage Data
We automatically collect information about how you interact with our service, including browser type, device information, IP address, and pages visited.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our service
- Display your bills, income, and account balances on your calendar
- Detect and suggest bills from your connected email accounts
- Sync your bank account data to provide accurate balance projections
- Use AI (powered by Anthropic Claude) to analyze email content and extract bill details
- Process payments and manage your subscription
- Send transactional emails (account verification, password resets, billing notifications)
- Respond to support requests
4. Artificial Intelligence
BilzCal uses AI technology powered by Anthropic's Claude API to analyze email content and detect bill information (amounts, due dates, payee names). When you enable email scanning:
- Relevant email content is sent to Anthropic's API for analysis
- Anthropic processes this data under their Commercial Terms of Service and does not use API data to train their models. Anthropic may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for trust and safety purposes, after which they are deleted.
- AI-generated bill suggestions are presented for your review before being added to your calendar
- We do not use your data for AI model training or any purpose beyond providing the Service
AI-generated suggestions may not always be accurate. You should review all detected bills before confirming them. BilzCal is not a financial advisor and AI-detected information is for organizational purposes only.
5. Google API Services — Limited Use Disclosure
BilzCal's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- We only use Gmail data to provide and improve user-facing features of bill detection that are prominent in BilzCal's interface
- We do not transfer Gmail data to third parties except as necessary to provide the Service, as required by law, or as part of a merger/acquisition with comparable privacy protections
- We do not use Gmail data for serving advertisements or for any generalized machine-learning or AI model training
- No humans read your Gmail data unless you provide affirmative consent for a specific message, it is required for security purposes, or it is required by law
6. Bank Account Data — Plaid
We use Plaid Inc. to connect your bank accounts and retrieve financial data. When you link a bank account through Plaid:
- Your bank credentials are handled exclusively by Plaid and are never stored on our servers
- Plaid accesses your account balances and transaction history on our behalf
- We receive and store account balances and transaction data to display on your calendar
- You may disconnect any linked account at any time from your account settings
By using BilzCal's bank sync feature, you acknowledge and agree to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy. Plaid's collection and use of your data is governed by their own privacy policy, not ours. For more information, visit plaid.com/legal.
7. Other Third-Party Services
- Stripe — Processes subscription payments. We do not store your credit card information; Stripe handles all payment data under the Stripe Privacy Policy.
- Google OAuth — Provides sign-in authentication. We receive only your basic profile information (name, email, profile photo).
- SendGrid — Delivers transactional emails (verification, password resets) on our behalf.
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies required to keep you signed in and maintain your session. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
9. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit
- Hashed and salted passwords
- Bank credentials handled exclusively by Plaid (never stored on our servers)
- Access controls limiting data access to authorized personnel with a business need
- Regular security reviews and vulnerability patching
10. Data Retention
We retain your account and financial data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it. Gmail data processed for bill detection is not stored beyond the extraction of bill details.

13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on our website or sending you an email. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
14. Contact Us
